THE REVIEW: HERBIVORE BOTANICALS ROSE HIBISCUS HYDRATING FACE MIST

One thing that I’m passionate about is finding really incredible brands that not only looks beautiful, but work just as well as they look. One of those brands is Herbivore Botanicals. This 100% natural skincare brand is not only one of my faves but is quite loved around the world.

*BIT ABOUT THE BRAND

What I also admire is the duo behind the brand. Founded in 2011, husband and wife Julia Wills and Alexander Kummerow believe in making highly effective products that are 100% natural, safe and non-toxic. No fillers are used in any of their products, which results in highly concentrated formulas all made from scratch in small batches in Seattle. They  transformed a hobby of making small-batch, handmade soaps in their Seattle kitchen into a lush, all-natural, and sustainable beauty line called Herbivore Botanicals. It wasn’t exactly a freshman effort—Wills’s mother owned a day spa, and she is a trained herbalist herself with a degree in naturopathic medicine.

Again, never tested on animals, no Herbivore Botanicals products contain any parabens, chemicals, preservatives or any other synthetic ingredients — everything you are putting on your skin is natural: essential vitamins, minerals and botanicals straight from nature — the way it should be! Not only are all their products good for you, they also look incredible too. With beautiful minimal packaging their products will look great in your bathroom, dressing table or anywhere else you fancy displaying them!

HYDRATION + SOFTNESS

So let’s talk about this lovely facial mist. If you are following my skincare routine on Instagram, you can tell I really love my hydrating, facial mists! I have one in the bedroom, by my work station and in the bathroom. It’s such a perfect way to stay hydrated the whole day. Hydration— so important to me especially in terms of skin goals.

“Introducing a fresh new way to stay pretty, featuring coconut and rose. “

Finally coconut and water, my favourites together at last, in the most delightful pale pink mist! Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist is created with pure plant actives — no fillers. Truly natural! A base of coconut water is infused with youth-boosting hibiscus flower petals and moisture-enhancing rose to tone, hydrate, and soften all skin types. It’s a great addition to your summer or even winter skincare routine, replacing your usual toner or spraying it after toning or moisturising as well. Additionally, you can use it whenever your skin needs an extra boost in hydration and softness.

Tips for Use: Shake before using. I especially love a mist in between cleansing or after toning,  and moisturising. Skin will feel all dewy, and moisturiser/facial oil/SPF will have a lovely base. Can also be used throughout the day for a refresher. Don't have A/C, or heading to the beach? Chill your mist in the fridge, and spray away. This mist is particularly vigorous, so close your eyes and hold back a few inches.

*WHAT’S ON IT

Coconut Water: Excellent for instantly rehydrating the skin and providing a new glow. In Hawaii, Coconut Water is known as “noelani,” which translates to “dew from the heavens.”

Hibiscus Flower: Naturally rich in malic and citric acid to provide natural exfoliation and speed up cell turnover, resulting in a more even skin-tone. Also provides an intense boost in moisture and also helps the skin to maintain moisture due to its high mucilage content — mucilage is a sticky substance secreted by the plant in order to retain moisture.

Bulgarian Rose: A rare rose grown in Bulgaria and known for its incredible scent and therapeutic properties. In skincare, Rose Bulgaria is hydrating, high in antioxidants, and excellent for reducing redness and inflammation.

Witch Hazel: The ability of witch hazel to tighten skin and reduce inflammation makes this an ideal natural remedy for treating discolouration and puffiness under and around eyes and is one of the most popular uses for witch hazel.

Aloe Vera: Aloe moisturises the skin without giving it a greasy feel, so it's perfect for anyone with an oily skin complexion. For women who use mineral-based make-up, aloe vera acts as a moisturiser and is great for the face prior to the application to prevents skin drying. For men: Aloe vera gel can be used as an aftershave treatment as it's healing properties can treat small cuts caused by shaving.

*Full List of Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Hamamelis virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water (Aloe Water), Hibiscus Flower, Bulgarian Rose Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Lactobacillus Ferment

*WHAT’S NOT IN IT
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates

*OVERALL THOUGHTS

Whats not to love about this product? It’s natural, it’s hydrating (coconut water base) plus deliciously smells like hibiscus and roses but not too overpowering. After use, my skin is supple, allowing oils, serums to spread easily over my face. Although the sleek, chic, modern and minimalistic aesthetics have caught my eye at first, the quality did not disappoint . I have finished my 2nd bottle already and  will definitely repurchase again. I also can’t wait to try other products from the line.

Have you tried any products from Herbivore Botanicals?

XOXO
