THE REVIEW : SON & PARK BEAUTY WATER, A MULTI-TASKING GODDESS!

THE REVIEW : SON & PARK BEAUTY WATER , A MULTI-TASKING GODDESS!

When makeup artists and models hit Paris for fashion week, the runway shows aren’t their only destination. They also flock to Parisian pharmacies to stock up on one beauty staple: Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water. You always spot this must-have product on almost every makeup artist’s table backstage during fashion week! When I first heard of cleansing water, I thought it had something to do with body cleanses or detoxing (but that’s actually another beauty water). However, it turns out that cleansing water is actually a multitasking skin-care product that’s here to change the way you cleanse your skin. It’s a popular product with makeup artists, a must-have for French women and it could be your new best friend. While the name sounds pretty lackluster, cleansing water, also known as micellar water, is actually a great product to have around. It’s basically water that’s infused with tiny oil molecules, called micelles, that absorb dirt and oil versus smearing them around your face. On top of that, it’s a three-in-one product that is a cleanser, a makeup remover and a toner that can be used on all skin types (even sensitive).

There’s a ton others like La Roche Posay, Avene, Simple, Vichy and etc etc. And then there’s “Beauty Water” by Korean Make-up Masters, SON &PARK! They’re the most sought-after celebrity makeup artists in Korea and founders of the Son & Park beauty collection. The line consists of colour cosmetics (which come in sleek black packaging that click-stacks together), as well as a few skin-care products. I first heard of this bad boy last year while I was looking around (online shopping hehe) and get my Korean beauty fix at Sokoglam. The amazing and lovely Korean Beauty Guru, Charlotte Cho was raving about it. The next thing I know, it fell on my shopping cart, whoops.

But this “Beauty Water” is a step up, this multi-tasking cleansing water, makeup remover and toner is one of those cult items that every K-pop star hoards, a french micellar water that go the extra mile to exfoliate with willow bark and papaya extracts and hydrate with botanicals like rose and lavender water. So it has cleansing, brightening, softening and hydrating effects on the skin, in one product that is also gentle enough to use everyday and good for all types of skin! Amazing isn’t it?

But you must know though, in case you’re wondering, this Beauty Water does not cut out my double cleanse as I really feel like a proper cleanse using oil and water based cleansers is the foundation for good skin. But whenever I  don’t have time in the mornings and I don’t like to strip my face with traditional cleansers after I’ve been babying it with gazillions of creams overnight, I love using this  Beauty Water as a first step to freshen up my face. It’s such a great toner in the evenings and will get rid of any last gunk your cleanser didn’t pick up. Thanks to the inclusion of willow park and papaya extract, it provides some light exfoliation as well, and it makes my face feel soft and hydrated — not tight. It cleans, tones, exfoliates, hydrates and keeps my skin bright! It definitely has a permanent spot on my vanity table!

WHAT’S ON IT AND WHAT IT DOES

CLEANSING : Coconut, corn, potato, and wheat— Ingredients you can find in your kitchen that gently cleanse the skin

EXFOLIATING : Willow bark and papaya extracts —ingredients that lift impurities and dead skin cells. Without that extra layer of dead skin cells, you’ll see improvements to your skin tone and texture, giving you brighter and smoother skin.

HYDRATING : Rose water is the second ingredient. You know I love me some roses! Couple that with lavender and orange fruit extracts, and you’ve got intense hydration for the skin. Gotta love Hydration! It keeps your skin healthy, glow, happy and away from wrinkles!

PACKAGING, PRICE, SCENT, PH LEVEL AND THE FOUNDERS…

As you can see, it’s super chic, glam and got a sleek design that I adore. You know how something looks (on my vanity table lol) is important to me. That’s why I love Korean/Japanese products or even makeup really, good packaging really turns me on. Aesthetics always and forever indeed! It was love at first sight for me because of the chic, minimalist, beautiful packaging. The bottle is HUGE (340ml) and lasts you quite a long time unless you’re drowning yourself in Beauty Water! lol. It’s $30 a pop for a multi-tacker and sexy ingredients your skin will definitely love! The product itself has a fresh, super clean, floral but not an overwhelming scent in any way.

The pH is a gentle 5 what is perfect for our skin that is naturally a 4.5-5.5, so it cleanses, tones, and exfoliates without any irritation.

Skin has a natural pH level of about 5.5, slightly acidic. After using an alkaline cleanser, Beauty Water will help reset to its natural balance.

Now it’s made by amazing make-up artists, for artists and now for everyone! I really support  with a passion products made by make-up artists especially coz they know damn well everything and good at it. The make-up masters and the creators of Son & Park have been the forefront of dewy, glowing skin— a natural look yet luminous which has been really the trademark of Korean women for quite some time and quite popular as well in the catwalk for years. I love that this product was conceived by professional artists that know the importance of good skin care and makeup. These 2 artists have spent their entire lives breathing beauty. They have always believed in creating a smooth, clean and hydrated canvas for the dewy, fresh look with or without makeup.

I really love this multi-tasking toner and cleanser but you can use it in a multitude ways. You can use it in the morning, in the afternoon, at night, when you’re travelling, or if you’re on a plane, when you workout before/after, or whenever you need a quick refresh really! I usually put it in a small spraying bottle and use it to hydrate on the go as a facial mist. I have it beside my humidifier on my desk and when I’m on a long flight home. You can use it to refresh your face when you’re going out, start fresh and set the canvas before reapplying your makeup or soak a Q-tip and fix badly drawn eyeliner or clean fall-outs when doing your make-up! It really leaves my face feeling fresh, clean, and hydrated.

OVERALL THOUGHTS ON PERFORMANCE

Son & Park’s Beauty Water really ticks all the boxes honestly!Beauty Water is something like a cleansing water, brightening toner, and hydrating face mist in one! It’s the perfect multi-tasking goddess in a sea of K-beauty products that are meant to be used for one thing, and one thing only! Beauty Water can be used in the morning to create the perfect canvas for makeup application, midday as a refresher, and night after cleansing to whisk away remaining impurities. And it’s for normal, oily, dry, and combination skin types. Beauty Water has a pH of 5, effectively resetting the skin's natural pH after cleansing. And it bloody looks awesome! So I’m giving it a 10/10!

You can purchase The SON & PARK Beauty Water at Sokoglam.com for $30.

So have you tried this “Beauty Water” already? What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments .
