Is it MAGIC or is it FOUNDATION?

I have been dying to review this lovely bewitching magic foundation! When I heard months ago that Charlotte Tilbury was launching a new foundation, I was really excited! I adore her Light Wonder Foundation, gives you perfect coverage in a light weight formula but her newest launch promised “magic” results. I waited for a month to test it as I usually do when I’m trying a new foundation, it was a painful wait while everyone was raving about it on social media. The foundation was five years in the making, a new generation of youth boosting, full coverage foundation that morphs to your face in a weightless texture, for a perfect second skin finish that lasts all day” giving a “flawless, poreless coverage” and I have to say, I have to agree with all of it!

Charlotte’s inspiration was the fact that she had never quite found the perfect full coverage foundation and frankly needed it in her kit. She recalled shoots in which she would mix a little bit of everything to make her perfect full base and said that one of two things would happen. Either the full coverage finish would start to cake and dry out as the day went on, needing constant retouching, or the photos would look beautiful but the model in the flesh would have 6 inches of make-up on. These factors in mind, she began working with both skincare and make-up labs to create a formula that delivered a hydrating, full coverage finish and something to give that retouched finish to the everyday girl. Who doesn’t love an anti-aging and full coverage foundation without feeling too heavy or cakey? I know I do!  Hers is a weightless, easy to buff formula that will flatter every age, skin tone and skin concern. And she’s so confident in how great it is that her campaign images are before and after shots, completely unretouched.

Here’s what it covers and treats:

= Acne & Acne Scarring : minimises the production of sebum after 9 weeks
= Redness, Rosacea, Discoloration & Melasma : reduces production of melanocytes over tiem
= Mature Skin Lines, Deep Wrinkles, Age Spots and Thread Veins : smoothes    appearances of wrinkles in 1 hour and age spots reduced by 75%
= Normal to Tired, Dull Skin
= Antioxidant formula rejuvenates skin from within for a rested, refreshed look

And here’s what’s in it…
The foundation contains something called Laricyl, which is a concentrated mushroom extract that firms the skin. This tightens pores whilst providing the skin with moisture for a comfortable, nourished yet flawless finish. It also contains hyaluronic acid, which for dehydrated skin like mine especially during winter, is superb at keeping it plump and firm throughout the day. Vitamin C (VC- IP) helps build collagen and fights the effects of ageing and it also contains broad spectrum SPF 15 to protect the skin from the sun. The SPF used is non-chemical and so far I don’t have any breakouts after using the foundation.

Before applying it, make sure not to forget to prep your skin and moisturise especially if you’ve got dry skin. I love Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream, it’s so light yet very effective and non greasy. It just blends into your skin leaving it really soft and hydrated.

The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation (£29.50) has a beautiful glass bottle and rose gold lid that comes with a pump, which I always love in foundations. I have found one pump though to be a little too much product for the face, but it is easy to control should you want less than this. It has a medium consistency and is beautifully creamy which makes application easy. I have applied this with my favourite Tom Ford Cream Foundation brush or any buffing brush and my fingers and no matter how I apply it I always get great coverage. She also released a new Magic Complexion Brush with it for best application. Coverage: medium to full coverage foundation, which may be off-putting to some that likes a much sheerer base, but it honestly feels as light as air on the face, I really don't feel as though I have got a lot of make up on at all. The coverage is amazing, it really does cover all my imperfections well, giving me the perfected skin that I dream of, whilst still managing to look natural. I have a combination skin, bit oily on the t-zone at times after a long day so I was really impressed by the longevity by this foundation. It stays in place all day long on my skin. The wear time is just impressive, I don’t have to touch up all the time, maybe just a tad bit on the nose but that’s about it really.

When you order online, you also get 3 sample sachets : The shade you ordered, one shade up and one shade down to test out before you use the full size product and make sure that it’s a perfect match for your skin tone. I ordered the shade number 6 (I kinda knew from trying out the Light Wonder Foundation) because it’s a perfect match for me especially now that it’s getting colder and darker… In the summer months I’d definitely go shade up and shade 7 would be perfect for me. Shade 6 is described as a neutral golden/yellow for medium skin tomes with neutral olive undertones and is the perfect match for my skin tone. Here you can also see the new Mini Miracle Eye Wand in this photo, but I’ll tell you more about it on my next blogpost.

I really love the whole packing and the Magic Foundation! It’s definitely a must have for my kit! And I’ve always been a big fan of CT’s work, her passion with her makeup line and she just genuinely wants every woman to look at their best possible version of themselves.

The Magic Foundation has 12 shades and you can by it here

Have you tried this foundation yet?
