The Stylist Live Event

A 4 day urban festival of cocktails, culture, catwalk shows and conversations with some of the most fascinating people in town- what’s not to like?

So I attended my first ever Stylist Live Event last Saturday held at the Business Design Centre, in Islington. It definitely felt like the Stylist magazine was brought to life—a huge selection of pop-up boutiques, celebrity Q&As, book signings, gourmet street food, drinks aplenty, beauty demonstrations and so much more! I’ve always been a fan of the magazine because they create such an intelligent, witty with enough sass to it and unique content mix for women on the go.

Fashionista? They’ve got it covered, with catwalks, pop-up stores, and talks on how to start your very own fashion business. Budding journalist? They have also how to get your pitches commissioned, how to navigate the trials and tribulations of climbing the career ladder, and how to learn the digital ropes. Foodie? They’ve  got tutorials from the likes of ROKA and Sushi Samba to set your hungry heart racing. The core Stylist reader is aged between 25 and 35, and they love cocktails so there was plenty of room for alcohol brands at the event-a champagne bar and VIP Bar too! Hosted by Dawn O'Porter and Edith Bowman, the event also invited Salman Rushdie, Nigella Lawson and Caitlin Moran take to the stage to ruminate on everything from salted caramel to female sexuality and so much more!

Speaking of Fashion, which is also another large part of the event. They’ve got the Stylist Catwalk which runs pretty much day and night, supported by Swarovski. After the Stylist fashion team shared their top trends for AW15, you can see what you should be wearing for winter in spectacular style, with the best of the high-street brought to life on the catwalk. Makeup was by the NARS team and Hair by Aveda.

With pop-up stores from the likes of Caudalie and Clarins, a wander around the boutiques alone promises to be beauty heaven. Beauty brand Nars offered mini-makeovers, and visitors can stop in at Clarins’ activation area to choose from a selection of 30-minute facials, available at a special Stylist Live price.

And not to even mention the wealth of beauty talks available at the four day event. They also invited some of the biggest names in the beauty world —YouTube's biggest success stories, Sam & Nic Chapman from Pixiwoo and Real Techniques, talked about what it takes to make it as a blogger, how they've built their brand and what they think the future holds for them.

What I was excited about is that I got the chance to listen to a fascinating conversation between A-list make-up artist, my beauty icon, Lisa Eldridge and the brilliant beauty journalist Sali Hughes on what it takes to become a beauty powerhouse! It was jam packed! The lovely Lisa also shared her in-depth knowledge of what makes the industry tick, why beauty videos have exploded online and the interesting facts she unearthed while researching her new book FACE PAINT: THE STORY OF MAKEUP which I’m really hooked at the moment! She also signed my copy that day and took piccies with the fans! She’s just so down to earth and beautiful in person (not sounding like a weirdo haha). I’ll tell you more about it in another post!

I absolutely enjoyed my Stylist day out. It is safe to say the next time to bring loads of gals with me, start mega mega early as it was REALLY full pretty much everywhere and hopefully Stylist will hire a bigger auditorium that has bigger rooms! Hope you love the photos!

XOXO
